Sites like Vintologi, Truecels, ZooPill, and Whitepill were not popular enough relative to the four big sites in this site farm, so I had to take down the four big sites for a few days to give the four little sites a chance to catch up, lest those site owners get demoralized by how they were falling behind. Now the traffic is about equal.

This is just a routine maintenance measure, like rotating tires on your car to make sure that some of them don't get unevenly worn.

It's due to the network effect, you need to attract a critical mass of users.

This site was on the way to get there before you suffered from the technical issues. The smaller sites are unlikely to ever reach a critical mass.
