Schisms are how the cells in the intellectual body divide and multiply. When there's a schism in a cult, a new cult can start, if someone has the drive and determination to make a go of striking out on his own.

I like to maintain friendly relations with people I have a schism with, and continue to cross-promote, but sometimes it isn't possible.

Divisive differences are okay, but only when the divisions actually divide people and they stick to their side. What seems to be happening, at least with incel groups, is that the divisions create distruptions between the groups. Almost like a civil war or miniature countries developing.
